Gardasil (HPV-Human Papillomavirus)

• Students who are 18 or younger and who do not have health insurance or Medicaid can recieve their series at the Peninsula Health Department

Gardasil is available in the clinic:

•     Gardasil is given in a series of three shots over an 8 month period, however it may also be given over a 12 month time period.
•   Generally, the dosing is: 

  Dose 1:  Given now

  Dose 2:   2 months after Dose1

  Dose 3:   6 months after Dose  1

  If there is a delay in the second dose, the dose may be given as long as there is 12 weeks between dose 2 and dose 3.

What this means to students who have already started the series, is that they can received their second and third doses when they return home during the Christmas break and at the end of the school year.

UHWS strongly encourages all women between the age of 11-25 to receive this vaccine and will be offering the vaccine in the clinic beginning in the fall of 2007.

•   The vaccine will need to be preordered because of it's cost per dose.   Cost: $137
