When to call 911

Call Campus Police: 594-7777 for 911
(Campus Police will direct EMT to the correct location)

If victim is unconscious, call Campus Police for 911 immediately.

Sometimes a conscious victim will tell you not to call an ambulance, and you may not be sure what to do. If this happens to you, follow these simple guidelines:

Always call Campus Police for 911 if someone shows any of these conditions:

• trouble breathing or is breathing in a strange way
• chest pain or pressure
• severe bleeding
• pressure or pain in the abdomen that does not go away
• vomiting or passing of blood
• seizures, a severe headache or slurred speech
• appears to have been poisoned
• injuries to the head, neck or back
• possible broken bones

Also call Campus Police for 911 for any of these situations:

• Fire or explosion
• Downed electrical wires
• Presence of poisonous gas
• Victims who cannot be moved easily
